Co-Packaged Optics (CPO) is an optoelectronic co-packaging technology that integrates an optical module (responsible for optical signal transmission and reception) and a switch ASIC (responsible for electrical signal processing) into the same physical package. 4-Tb/s co-packaged optics switch is a highradix, high-bandwidth network switching device supporting up to 64 × 1. 6TbE, 128 × 800GbE, 256 × 400GbE, 512 × 200GbE, 512 × 100GbE, or 512 × 50GbE ports. From Jensen Huang showcasing CPO switches at GTC 2025 to a wide range of vendors demonstrating optical engines integrated inside ASIC. At the SC25 SuperComputing conference in November, NVIDIA announced that GPU computing facility operators, including Lambda and CoreWeave, as well as the Texas Advanced Data Center (TACC), will adopt its Quantum-X Photonics CPO switches.
