Libya fiber optic cable interruption
Tripoli, February 17, 2025 (LANA) - The Holding Company for Telecommunications announced today, Monday, that Internet services on the submarine cable linking Libya and Italy were affected. In a briefing statement, the LPTIC said that the malfunction resulted from the "emergency disconnection of the external electrical supply from the international system, during an urgent maintenance procedure. Libya has formally integrated into the Medusa subsea cable system, marking a pivotal advancement in its telecommunications infrastructure. The issue is caused by a fiber optic route failure from the service provider in Italy.
